The other day I went to join a game and it said that I had to visit a website and download a map. Just my luck the site was running joomla and there was some kind of database connection problem.
First - I do not know if this feature was left out of l4d where the maps are automatically downloaded from the server. Or if the server admin had that feature disabled.
Second - come on people and get with the times. Joomla is a lousy content management system. Use wordpress instead.

The official l4d blog has been renamed
The official l4d blog has been renamed from l4d to l4d2. If you visit valves left 4 dead site - http://www.l4d.com/ it used to say "Left 4 Dead" - but now it says "Left 4 Dead 2."
Instead of keeping the content on focus - which is the original left 4 dead, and giving a section dedicated to part 2, the whole site now looks like a l4d2 sales pitch.
I bet in a couple of years the original left 4 dead will be forgotten. Kids are gonna say - "left 4 dead, you mean 2 right? I never even knew they made a part 1."
This is the same exact thing that has happened with team fortress. When your in a game of tf2 and mention TFC, Fortress Forever or Quakeworld Team Fortress, those noob tf2 players say - "I thought this was the first version of team fortress?" Then why is there a "2" on the end?
Never in my life have I seen a bunch of uber noobs like the people that play tf2. They jump into a game, know it all (at least think they do), and dont even know there are other versions of the team fortress. Can we not count? Lets start off with 1 - which was quakeworld team fortress, then TFC, Fortress Forever and finally tf2? Come on now, what do you "really" think the 2 is for?
I suspect that the same thing is going to happen to left 4 dead. In a year or two, or maybe three years - if you mention left 4 dead 1 or the original left 4 dead, noob players are gonna say "there is something besides l4d2?"
In the end I look for l4d to be forgotten - pushed aside by valves marketing team. And all players are going to know is part 2. Which for some reason they think is going to be part 1. Come on people, learn how to count.

The famous E3 l4d2 trailer
For those of you that missed it, here is the famous l4d2 trailer from E3.
The first questions are, what happened to the original l4d players? Did Louis get fat or something? Maybe he went to stay at his mamas house and she fed him too much? What about Zoey, Francis and Bill? If the original players are not supposed to return in part 2, then where are they? Did they escape the city? Are they still alive, are the new players related to the original characters?
There are a lot of questions that need to be answered. Or is Valve software throwing the story plot out the window and starting everything all over again?

left 4 dead 2 upsetting players
It seems that the people at Valve software have decided to release left 4 dead part 2 one year after the original. Well, that has upset a lot of players, and not just the people that play l4d.
For well over a year fans have been waiting on some kind of news on half-life 2 episode 3. And at E3 all they got was l4d2. Start start with, the developers at Valve were "supposed" to be releasing updates for left4dead 1. But instead, those updates are being rolled up into a whole separate package and sold to gamers for massive profits.
It seems that the management of valve software is pushing the fans, and the half-life story aside to reach for bigger profits.
