The official l4d blog has been renamed from l4d to l4d2. If you visit valves left 4 dead site - http://www.l4d.com/ it used to say "Left 4 Dead" - but now it says "Left 4 Dead 2."
Instead of keeping the content on focus - which is the original left 4 dead, and giving a section dedicated to part 2, the whole site now looks like a l4d2 sales pitch.
I bet in a couple of years the original left 4 dead will be forgotten. Kids are gonna say - "left 4 dead, you mean 2 right? I never even knew they made a part 1."
This is the same exact thing that has happened with team fortress. When your in a game of tf2 and mention TFC, Fortress Forever or Quakeworld Team Fortress, those noob tf2 players say - "I thought this was the first version of team fortress?" Then why is there a "2" on the end?
Never in my life have I seen a bunch of uber noobs like the people that play tf2. They jump into a game, know it all (at least think they do), and dont even know there are other versions of the team fortress. Can we not count? Lets start off with 1 - which was quakeworld team fortress, then TFC, Fortress Forever and finally tf2? Come on now, what do you "really" think the 2 is for?
I suspect that the same thing is going to happen to left 4 dead. In a year or two, or maybe three years - if you mention left 4 dead 1 or the original left 4 dead, noob players are gonna say "there is something besides l4d2?"
In the end I look for l4d to be forgotten - pushed aside by valves marketing team. And all players are going to know is part 2. Which for some reason they think is going to be part 1. Come on people, learn how to count.
